Undead and Unwelcomed - Maryjanice Davidson
In Undead and Unwelcomed, Betsy Taylor, the newly-crowned Queen of the Vampires, is still adjusting to her new role and responsibilities. Despite her supernatural powers and her position as a leader in the vampire community, Betsy continues to deal with the more mundane struggles of life, such as managing her relationships and coping with her often-unpredictable vampire subjects.
At the beginning of the book, Betsy is dealing with the aftermath of events from the previous book and is once again faced with new threats and dilemmas. She finds herself navigating the tricky dynamics of being both a vampire queen and a woman who wants to retain some semblance of normalcy in her life. She still struggles with the idea of being a ruler and doesn’t take her new title too seriously.
Betsy is also still trying to get a handle on her complicated relationship with her vampire king, Eric Sinclair, and is faced with new issues that challenge her personal life. When an unforeseen crisis arises in the vampire world, Betsy must face new enemies and power struggles, including a growing threat from other supernatural beings.
Throughout the book, Betsy faces obstacles that push her to mature and take her role more seriously, though her wit and humor still shine through. The story is filled with action, romantic tension, and Davidson's signature snarky humor, as Betsy tries to balance her duties with her desires and maintain her independence. She also has to deal with her "undead" family members, who are as complicated and dysfunctional as ever.
As Betsy faces various challenges, she learns more about her powers, her position in the vampire hierarchy, and the true responsibilities that come with being the queen. Along the way, she grows as a leader and as a person, all while trying to keep things from falling apart in both her personal life and her vampire kingdom.
